Kevin O’Leary, also known as “Mr. Wonderful,” is a well-known businessman, investor, and television personality. However, his journey to the top was not a smooth one. Born in Montreal, Canada, O’Leary grew up in a modest household and had a strong passion for business from a young age. He started his first business when he was just 9 years old, selling ice and collecting garbage door-to-door. This drive and determination set the foundation for his future success.
O’Leary graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in environmental studies and applied for an MBA at the Ivey Business School. As an aspiring entrepreneur, he founded his first software company, which eventually led to the creation of The Learning Company. This business venture was acquired for $4.2 billion, making it one of the largest exits in Canadian history. O’Leary’s success only continued from there, as he went on to invest in various industries and co-founded the investment group O’Leary Funds.
